Amenity Improvements at the Tennis Courts

Keeping our neighborhood amenities in great shape is a high priority, so we’re happy to share that recently:

We hope these updates keep our neighborhood courts a place you’re glad to play!

Next MVW Ladies’ Event: Sunday, April 21

Join the other ladies of Mount Vernon Woods for drinks, snacks, and casual chatting on
Sunday, April 21, from 4–6 p.m.
at Jan Hodgson’s home, 650 Carriage Drive

This is a low-pressure way to meet or reconnect with neighbors—just a bit of Sunday afternoon social time.

No need to RSVP—all are welcome!

Construction Has Begun on Mt. Vernon Hwy

As you’ve likely noticed, tree removal has begun near the library in the first phase of the 2-year construction project to add sidewalks and improve traffic flow near the south end of our neighborhood.

A rendering of the finished Mt. Vernon Hwy/Johnson Ferry corridor can be seen below.

Updates will be posted here on the city’s website throughout the project’s duration. And we will communicate any additional news we receive from city officials about interruptions to road or sidewalk access and about our neighborhood signs at Vernon Woods Drive and Hunting Creek (which will eventually be demolished).

Community Association Dues Were Due February 1

Thank you to the many neighbors who have submitted their annual dues payment for 2024. If you have not yet submitted payment, please do so as soon as possible on the Heritage website or by mail using the payment coupon you should have received in December. If you have questions or would like to discuss a payment plan, email our Treasurer Austin Rocconi at mvwtreasurer@gmail.com.

Mount Vernon School Lights – Next Meeting April 15th

Thank you to everyone who engaged with this issue by attending the community meeting February 1 (the turnout was incredible!) and/or submitting a comment on the permit request. So you know where we are in the process:

·         The next community meeting for the school’s Use Permit application has been rescheduled to Monday, April 15 at 6 p.m. at the Sandy Springs City Hall. Please save this date on your calendar, since community engagement—no matter your opinion—is vital to the process.

·         Representatives from our neighborhood & Aria West met with school officials at the end of February and will continue to engage in direct dialogue throughout this process and keep you informed as we do.

Further updates will continue to be posted to the neighborhood website: mtvernonwoods.com, and to our Facebook page. And questions/comments are always welcome via email: mvwpresident@gmail.com.
